Big Bend Night Sky Photography
Big Bend Night Sky Photography provides specialized astrophotography instruction in one of the world’s premier dark sky destinations. Operating during the new moon periods when conditions are optimal, these workshops help photographers capture the Milky Way, star fields, and dramatic night sky images. Comprehensive Astrophotography Training
Workshops cover all aspects of night sky photography, from equipment selection and settings to composition and post-processing. Participants learn about ISO, shutter speed, and aperture combinations for night photography, as well as focusing techniques for sharp stars. The workshops cover Milky Way photography, star trails, and timelapse techniques. Prime Dark Sky Location
Big Bend’s designation as an International Dark Sky Reserve creates ideal conditions for astrophotography. During new moon periods, the Milky Way becomes dramatically visible, arching across the sky in spectacular fashion. Workshop locations are carefully selected for foreground interest, compositions, and minimal light pollution impact. The desert landscape provides dramatic foregrounds including canyons, peaks, unique geological formations, and historic structures. Early registration is essential as workshops fill quickly. The workshops require moderate physical ability for carrying equipment to remote shooting locations.
