Home : What To Do : Biking Trails

Mountain Bicycling has grown in popularity over the years, and it seems like every other vehicle has sprouted a pair of these high tech mechanisms. Big Bend can be a good place to ride if you know where to go. Big Bend National Park has many miles of seldom used backcountry roads that are ideal for mountain bikes, but riding IS NOT ALLOWED on trails or anywhere off marked roads.

Riders preferring trails or single track should check out Terlingua Ranch, which boasts hundreds of miles of secluded back roads, with several miles of dedicated bike trail near the Ranch Lodge. Lajitas Resort has a well-developed biking trail that traverses the beautiful desert country near the Mesa de Anguila and Big Bend National Park.

Desert Sports offers guided mountain bike trips, bike rentals, repair and a variety of accessories and last minute necessities for bicycle trips. Roadies welcome too. Located on FM170, 5 miles west of the junction of TX 170 and TX 118. 888-989-6900 local 371-2727

Check out the website for Big Bend Trails Alliance for more information about bicycling in the Big Bend region.
