Welcome to the VisitBigBend.com Interactive Map feature, where you can virtually visit the big bend and selected tourism hotspots and services.

Map Navigation
To navigate the system, click on a point, or choose a point from the "Points" menu at the right of the map. The navigation buttons to the left allow you to pan or zoom the map. Double-clicking the map will recenter and zoom the map at the clicked location. "Routes" are paths to illustrate an interesting road or trip. "Layers" are data feeds from other services and allow the user to experience much more from the map system.
By clicking on the "Directions" button, you will be taken to Google Maps, where you will be able to enter a start location and receive step-by-step driving directions to that point. Points that are not located on a road will not give directions.
The Google Earth button will allow you to download a KML file. Save this file to your computer and you will be able to view the map data in Google Earth. For more information about KML and Google Earth, please visit http://earth.google.com/
Clicking on the Link button will bring a small popup box with a URL. Copy and paste this URL into your web browser, email program, or web site to link directly to that piece of data.

Birding in Big Bend
Among the many activities available in Big Bend National Park that highlight the region's diversity of wildlife, birding can be enjoyable and promising. Big Bend engulfs a vast area, bounded by the the rushing Rio Grande valley to the south, containing high peaks in the Chisos Mountains, and boasting both desert and forest climates between the two. It embodies the very diversity that makes America great, providing countless opportunities to spot more than 450 birds in one area.

Trails and Wildlife
There are many things you may love to do in Big Bend National Park in the heat of summer, but running or jogging is probably not one of them. With 90+ degree temperatures, there simply is no such thing as a nice July run in West Texas. With the dry weather we've had this year, you have truly hostile workout conditions. That all changes this time of year, though, as temperatures drop and the sun gives us a break for a few months. What a great time to get out on some trails in Big Bend!
